| Tip1: ALWAYS check you bank and credit card statements for dubious transactions – The British Home Office are advising people routinely check their credit report. This reveals EVERY credit account you have; which makes it easy to track and report any unauthorised credit applications and/or accounts that may have resulted from Identity Theft. |
| Tip2: ALWAYS report missing cards and other important documents such as your Driving Licence – When wallets and cards go missing the first thing most people do is PANIC! So be Prepared. Make a list of the phone numbers you need to report lost and stolen cards for each account you have. Include account numbers but NEVER include passwords or security questions. Keep it in a secure place and when the rush is on, you will be ready to beat the clock. |
| Tip3: NEVER answer emails asking for personal information such as passwords or bank accounts – Phishing emails are a big threat to Online Security. They are often masquerading as a trustworthy source: Like Facebook, Ebay or Paypal. But these sources would NEVER threaten your Online Security by asking for sensitive information in an email. Some will link to fake websites asking you to enter user name and password details. If you are NOT 100% SURE contact the company directly FIRST. |
| Tip4: NEVER give away too much personal info online such as a child or pet’s name – Identity Thieves KNOW people use them as passwords and they prey on social networking websites. So keeping mum is a VERY good idea with regards to your Online Security. |
